Heidi grew up in the country, near Stanthorpe (Queensland). Inspired by artistic parents, she completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts in 1994 and began work as a Production Potter. After 18 months, Heidi moved back to the country to set up a studio and develop her own pottery products and glaze ranges. She established and operated a family gallery, sold pottery through a range of retail outlets, participated in numerous art and craft shows and exhibited regularly as a solo artist. She also completed further tertiary study – Honours (2000) and a Grad Dip Ed (2006). Over this time, Heidi's primary focus was sculptural ceramics, concentrating on an exploration of the body and, more particularly, the female form.
More recently, Heidi has been experimenting with intricate carving on thrown porcelain pieces - scratching through layers of applied colour to reveal the fine white porcelain body beneath. Her rhythmic use of line still borrows from the female form, but is a departure from the narrative and representational style of earlier years. Her latest body of work reflects a pure love and respect for the craft she has embraced for over 25 years.
